Christmas Gift Guide for Young Coders

29th November 2016

Christmas shopping is often a hard task. Never fear! We have put together a list of our favourite toys for coding kids to keep them having fun (and learning!) over the Christmas break.

1. Code Monkey Island

Code Monkey Island is an educational board game which teaches children the fundamentals of computer science.

As the wise leader of your tribe of monkeys, you need to guide your monkeys safely to the banana grove.

You’ll need to use concepts like conditional statements, looping, booleans, and assignment operators

This is great for adults too!

2. Coding Osmo

Osmo is a great game which changes the way your child interacts with an iPad by allowing them to play with physical objects, to control what happens on the screen.

Encouring creative thinking and social interaction, this is a great game which can be played on almost any surface!

3. Ozobot Bit

Ozobot Bits are tiny robots and very popular at blueshift!

To code your Bit, simply draw lines and colour segments and your tiny robot will follow!

Highly programmable and versatile these will keep the kids occupied for hours!

4. Sphero 2.0

Sphero is the world’s first app-enabled robotic ball and a sophisticated companion for your smartphone or tablet.

Sphero pairs to your device via Bluetooth with a range of up to 100 feet, and you are able to download free games and apps from the App store.

5. Makeblock mBot

Another blueshift favourite, the mBot is an all-in-one solution to enjoy programming, electronics and robotics.

This is an easy to assemble kit which connects with computers or smart devices and allows your child to learn STEM in a fun way!
